sedexch/sedex-client repository overview

This is the official Docker image of the sedex-Client software. It allows running a containerized version of the client for the Swiss SEcure Data EXchange (sedex) platform. For more information about sedex and the sedex-Client, visit www.sedex.ch.

Important Notes:

  • Preparation required: A number of things must be done correctly to ensure the smooth operation of a sedex-Client. Please read the documentation carefully and plan your installation before starting the sedex-Client as a container for the first time.

  • Private application: sedex is a closed user group, accessible only to registered and authorized participants. If you are not such a registered participant, you cannot use sedex-Client.

  • One instance only: It is absolutely necessary to prevent two or more sedex-Clients from running simultaneously. In the worst case, sedex messages could be lost. This must be considered especially when operating on automatic container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

  • Feedback: We are very interested in feedback on the Docker version of the sedex-Client and the documentation. Please tell us what you like and what you don't like.

Current Docker Hub Tags

Tag(s)Image DescriptionRelease date
container-1.2, container-1, 8.0.3, 8.0.3_container-1.2.1The most current container image (version 1.2.1) with sedex-Client 8.0.3. Recommended.June 17, 2026

Why does the tag latest not exist?

In the Docker world, the special tag latest usually references the most recent image for a container. It can be dangerous to use this tag because it refers to different versions of the container over time that may not be compatible. Using the latest tag can lead to unpredictable behavior. For this reason, sedex avoids using the latest tag. For more information on the different versions and tags of the Docker image, see the online documentation.
