OPENAIR-CN-5G
An implementation of the 5G Core network by the OpenAirInterface community.
OPENAIR-CN-5G is an implementation of the 3GPP specifications for the 5G Core Network. At the moment, it contains the following network elements:
Each has its own repository: this repository (oai-cn5g-smf) is meant for SMF.
It is distributed under CSSL V1.0.

As with all container images, these likely also contain other software which may be under other licenses (such as Bash, etc from the base distribution, along with any direct or indirect dependencies of the primary software being contained).
As for any pre-built image usage, it is the image user's responsibility to ensure that any use of this image complies with any relevant licenses for all software contained within.
As stated in Section 9 of our LICENSE:

Until May 12th, 2023; the published images were done on an Ubuntu-18.04 LTS base.
From May 15th, 2023 to September 25th, 2023; the published images were done on an Ubuntu-20.04 LTS base.
Starting September 26th, 2023; the published images are done on an Ubuntu-22.04 LTS base.
The Openair-CN-5G SMF code is written, executed, and tested on UBUNTU server bionic/focal/jammy versions. Other Linux distributions support will be added later on.

In a general way, anybody who is willing can contribute on any part of the code in any network component.
Contributions can be simple bugfixes, advices and remarks on the design, architecture, coding/implementation.
