⁠Converting captured PROFINET process data to MQTT

⁠Product Information

The container "netFIELD App PROFINET Tap" is a software gateway that extracts process data from a captured PROFINET network stream exchanged between a PLC and IO devices and converts it to MQTT topics.

Without a license key, the container runs in demo mode with limited functionality for 30 minutes.

⁠Prerequisites

The container features hosts that are:

• providing an Ethernet port that is connected to a mirroring port of a managed Ethernet switch serving as capturing interface, either physically or remote via RSPAN
• operating a Hilscher two-ported Industrial Ethernet network card with network-recording capability serving as capturing interface

Capturing interfaces need to be installed in line with the PROFINET network directly after the PLC.

⁠Running the container using Docker Compose

The most convenient way to start the container is using docker-compose with

docker-compose --file <docker-compose-file.yml> up -d
